In January we celebrated our World Discovery Day by travelling to Cuba! We learned a bit about where Cuba is located, showed pictures and a video of its beautiful landscape, discussed popular dishes that are served and what fruits and vegetables grow there, danced to traditional & popular styles of music, and discovered what animals live there. We decorated the Cuban flag using tissue paper in the flags red, white, and blue colours, and made Cuban yard dolls which are said to be a traditional toy of children in Cuba. We also had a student bring in Cuban pesos, and a miniature example of the older American-style cars they drive to share with the class. We had a great day learning about Cuba while moving to the music and dreaming of being on the beach!
